Thelma Winchester

October 23, 1924 — January 2, 2015

Thelma Mae Church Winchester, 90, homemaker and former resident of Locust Street, died Friday, January 2, 2015 at NHC Hillview. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at West End Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Elsey officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the church. A private graveside service will be held at Polk Memorial Gardens. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Robert Taylor Church and Eloise Holt Church. She was married to John Lemuel Winchester who preceded her in death in 1975. She was a member of West End Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons, Larry Winchester and Keith (Barbara) Winchester, both of Columbia; grandchildren, John Riggs Winchester, Robert "Rob" Winchester, Laura Winchester; and sister, Betty Hogan (LeRoy) Tiller of Nashville. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Burt, Gladys Puckett, Emma Troope; and six brothers, Russell Church, Howard Church, Charles Church, Donald Church, Leon Church, and Carl Church.
