Timothy Garland Anderson

Mr. Timothy Garland Anderson, 89, resident of the The Bridge at Life Care of Columbia and former resident of Wyndham Hall, died Sunday, November 11, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jeremy Butt, Porter King, John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Columbia Academy, 1171 Columbia Academy Circle, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnicholscom. The Hickman County native was the son of the late Will S. Anderson and Mary Pearl Williams Anderson. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. On September 23, 1946 he married Lillian Nichols Anderson who preceded him in death May 13, 2003. Mr. Anderson was employed with Tennessee Valley Authority for thirty-five years. He was a former board member of Columbia Academy and a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. He was always very involved in church activities having served as an elder at Eastside Church of Christ for many years before becoming a member of West 7th St. Church of Christ. Mr. Anderson was much loved and will be deeply missed by many. His Christian faith, character and beautiful prayers were inspirational and will leave a lasting legacy. Survivors include a son, Michael Carl (Beverly) Anderson of Knoxville; grandsons, Dr. Morgan (Jennifer) Anderson and Chase Garland Anderson both of Nashville; special friend, Norma Rosson of Columbia; nieces, Marie Filson, Shirley House; nephew, Ronald Anderson; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by sisters, Martha Louise Anderson, Ocia Anderson, Jennie Anderson Filson; and brothers, Joe Anderson and Stanley Anderson. Pallbearers will be Joe Huckaby, Carter Hill, Tony Smith, William Carroll, Wayne Everett, Hollice Mangrum, Charles Smith and Don Dugger. Honorary pallbearers include Joe Bedwell, Ben Hancock, Jim Carrigan, Norman Dean, Kenneth Cherry, John Tomlinson, J.B. Long, Jim Thomas, Dr. Victor Beck, Jim Criswell, Barry Beck, Steve Beck, Teresa Beck and elders and deacons of West 7th St. of Church of Christ.
