View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Tom Baker Johnson, 66, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012 at his residence in the Williamsport Community surrounded by his family after battling multiple myeloma. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Jeremy Butt and Jeff Smith officiating. Graveside services will follow at Santa Fe Cemetery with Randy Owens officiating. Military honors at graveside will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Born June 19, 1946 in Nashville, he was the son of the late Tom Bell Johnson and Annie Gertrude Gordon Johnson and a graduate of Hickman County High School. A proud patriot, he served in the U. S. Army for 2 years as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Johnson was a machinist for Union Carbide Corporation for 18 years and retired from Ford Glass Plant in Nashville where he was employed for 13 years. He was a faithful Christian and long-time member of West 7th Street Church of Christ. He served the congregation as a Deacon and was dedicated to all activities of the church. A proud and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, he loved spending time with his family and working on the family farm. He was very much a handyman and could fix or make just about anything. He is survived by his dear wife, the former Patsy Burns, whom he married June 5, 1971; their daughter, Bridget (Jeff) Smith of Searcy, Arkansas; son, Erik (Erin) Johnson of Spring Hill; grandchildren, Zoe Grace Smith and Lane Smith of Searcy, Arkansas; siblings, Doris (Bill) Hossbach of Columbia, Cummins (Frances) Johnson of Franklin, S. I. (Nancy) Johnson of Portland, Linda Johnson of Santa Fe, and Nancy (Thomas) Coghlan of Columbia; eight nieces and nephews; and his step-mother, Dorothy Johnson of Columbia. Active pallbearers are Jerry Oakley, Hayden Burns, Lloyd Land, Marty Lockhart, Barry England, Dr. John Simmons, Dr. Bill Thrasher, and Jack Lockhart.
