Born August 22, 1955 in La Plata, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Allen Brown Coleman and the late Anna Lee Nickell Coleman. On June 17, 2006 she married John Crosby Brantingham. Valerie was known for her fierce love for her family, her deep compassion for animals—especially dogs—and her unwavering strength. Though she was strong-willed and determined, her heart was wide open to anyone in need. She gave with generosity, lived with passion, and loved without conditions.

She was the proud mother of three children, who were her greatest joy and accomplishment. Her love for her grandchildren was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Whether offering warm hugs, sharing stories, or simply watching them grow, she was their biggest cheerleader. Mrs. Brantingham was a long time member of Columbia First United Methodist Church.

Her love was fierce, her loyalty unshakable, and her memory everlasting. We will miss her more than words can say. In addition to her husband, John Brantingham, she is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Tim) Denoncourt; sons, Kris (Stephanie) Webber, and Jeffrey (Megan) Webber; grandchildren, Courtney Denoncourt, Ethan Denoncourt, Mason Denoncourt, Walker Webber, Turner Webber, Gracelyn Webber, and Annalyn Webber; brother, Kenny Coleman; and nieces, Jamie (Jason) Hyde, and Tifany Coleman.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister; and niece, Beth Herrell.

The Columbia Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
