View Funeral Webcast Mr. Vance Connelly, 71, resident of Denham Avenue and employee of the Maury County Convenience Center on Pulaski Pike, died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at St. Thomas Alive Hospice. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Gerald Yerkes officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Springs Cemetery with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late W. O. Connelly and Maggie Jones Connelly. He was a 1957 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the U. S. Army. For a number of years, he did painting and body work for Sloan Ford and several other local auto dealers. Mr. Connelly loved animals and cared for many homeless dogs and loved helping his fellow man. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Kerry (Rory) Connelly-Johnson of Huntington, West Virginia; a son, Ricky (Lisa) Connelly of Bowling Green, Kentucky; grandchildren, Ricky Lane Connelly, Michael Lane Connelly, and Christian Lane Connelly; a sister, Helen (John) Lynn of Columbia; brothers, James (Vivian) Connelly of Chapel Hill and Hubert Connelly of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Ray Connelly. Active pallbearers are Darrell Lynn, Jeff Lynn, Alan Lynn, Johnny Voorhies, Pat Edgin, Ray Williams, and Kenny Lovell. Honorary pallbearers include Herbie Church, Ron Inman, Gary Connelly, and Randy Fox.
