Velma Gray Davidson

Mrs. Velma Gray Davidson, 86, homemaker and resident of North James Campbell Boulevard, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Samuel Gray and Beulah Roberts Gray. On April 24, 1945 she married Edward Eugene "Gene" Davidson who preceded her in death May 4, 2004. She enjoyed spending time with her family and camping with her husband. Mrs. Davidson was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Jean Chunn of Columbia; son, Danny Dean (Joye) Davidson of Columbia; sister, Dorothy Nichols of Columbia; grandchildren, Paula (Anthony) Marshall, Jimmy Davidson, Vicky (Jeff) George, and Scott Chunn; step grandchild, Christie Fautt; great grandchildren, Stratton Marshall, Addison Marshall, Bradley Wall, Makayla Davidson, Christopher Chunn, Anna Chunn, and Gracelynn Chunn; step great grandchild, Neely Fautt; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by her sons, Ronnie Eugene Davidson and James Edward Davidson; sisters, Thelma Anderson, Gladys Dial, Josephine Sweeny, Irene Brown, and Mae Jones; brother, Ulna Gray. Active pallbearers will be Anthony Marshall, Darren Wall, Bradley Wall, Jerry Nichols, Gary Corneilus, and Mike Anderson. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby Young, J.C. Gray, and Boyd Roberts.
