View Funeral Service WebcastMrs. Vera Bowers Boswell, 82, widow of Calvin Boswell and resident of Horne Hollow Road, died Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Ward and Bro. Jeff Price officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Lawrence County native was the daughter of the late Wells Horton Bowers and Lila Mae Gilbreath Bowers. She was retired from Publix Manufacturing Co. Mrs. Boswell loved making quilts and traveling. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Dwight Calvin (Julie) Boswell of Culleoka; daughter, Mrs. Angela (Jamie) Turnbo of Columbia; four grandchildren, Adam Boswell, Ashley Kramedjian, Chelsea Turnbo and Colton Turnbo; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Rose, Ms. Maggie Bowers, Mrs. Kay Ayers and six brothers, Jack Bowers, Ray Bowers, James Bowers, Roy Bowers, Jimmy Bowers and Roger Bowers. Nephews and grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Calvary Baptist Church, the staff at Maury Regional Medical Center, Dr. Paul Perryman and Dr. Charlotte Batey.
