View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Vernon Frank Witherow, 89, retired service manager for Hardcastle Motor Company and self-employed mechanic since retirement, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Mike Kesler and Randy Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1864, Columbia 38402 or West Seventh Street Church of Christ, 405 West Seventh Street, Columbia 38401. The Giles County native was the son of the late George Witherow and Lela Johnson Witherow. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Navy Seabees and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Mr. Witherow was a long-time member of West Seventh Street Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Edna House Witherow; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Reda Witherow of Columbia; grandsons, Will (Tabitha) Witherow, Scott (Aria) Witherow, both of Nashville, Trent (Justine) Witherow, and Trevor Witherow, both of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Trey Witherow and Aubrie Witherow, both of Columbia; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jean Witherow of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Dailey Witherow; sister, Eleanor Witherow; and brothers, Maston Witherow, Petty Witherow, Carlos Witherow, and Lowell Witherow. Active pallbearers are Will Witherow, Scott Witherow, Trent Witherow, Trevor Witherow, Mark Witherow, Wayne Trimble, Buddy Witherow, and Larry Witherow. Honorary pallbearers include Marjorie Hardcastle, Cecil Duncan, Edward Jones, Norman Dean, George Knox, and Jeff Porter.
