View Funeral WebcastMrs. Viola Scott Burt, 78, resident of Denise Drive, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with James Dickey officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Hickman County native was the daughter of the late John Andrew Scott and Essie Mae Slaughter Scott. She was a homemaker and a wonderful cook who enjoyed gardening and dancing. Mrs. Burt was a member of Robertson Fork Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband of thirty seven years, Charles William Burt of Columbia; children, Beverly Galbreath Strong, Robert "Robby" Galbreath, Jr., Connie Galbreath (Jeff) Greene all of Columbia; sisters, Sarah Williams of Santa Fe, Clara Mae (Leonard) Lancaster of Theta; grandchildren, Shane (Crystal) Davis, Jon Strong, Brooke (Blake) Davis, Ben Greene, Brandi Galbreath, Brandon Tuten; five great grandchildren; stepsons, Tony (Tonya) Burt, Bruce Burt and stepdaughter, Lisa Burt. She was preceded in death by sisters, Bertha Dee Stewart, Johnnie Ann McCrary, Addie B Dickey and brothers, Hardin Scott, Vernon Scott and Dallas Scott. Active pallbearers will be Shane Davis, Jon Strong, Ben Greene, Jordan Davis, Blake Davis, Jerry Dickey and Robert "Sonny" Galbreath, Sr. Honorary pallbearers include members of Robertson Fork Church of Christ.
