View Video TributeView Funeral WebcastMrs. Virginia Medkiff Norman, 91, resident of Santa Fe Pike in Columbia, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Mike Kesler and Randy Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to West 7th Street Church of Christ Building Fund, 405 West 7th Street, Columbia, Tennessee, 38401. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Claude Medkiff and Elizabeth Foster Medkiff. On February 15, 1941 she married Clarence "Curley" Norman who preceded her in death October 23, 1999. Mrs. Norman was a homemaker and for approximately twenty-five years made wedding cakes and catered rehearsal dinners and wedding receptions. She was known as "The Cake Lady". She was a faithful member of the West 7th Street Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, Ronnie (Martha) Norman of Sugarland, Texas; daughters, Carolyn Norman Turnmyre and Gail Norman (Sonny) Lee both of Columbia; sister, Jo McKee of Columbia; grandchildren, Robin Turnmyre of Gainesville, Georgia, Sherri Groves of Marietta, Georgia, Scotty (Tammy) Lee of Lebanon, Gregg (Amy) Lee of Waynesboro, Mary Beth (Ryan) Davis and Ryan (Kathryn) Norman both of Sugarland, Texas; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lota Young, Virgie Shelton, Faye Attkisson and three brothers, Evans Medkiff, Jimmy Medkiff and Ewell "Pinky" Medkiff. Active pallbearers will be Sonny Lee, Gregg Lee, Scotty Lee, Ryan Norman, Larry Jarnigan and Ken McKee. Honorary pallbearers include Martha and Roy Norman, Carolyn and Floyd Norman, Leona Lyons, Minnie and Bobby Norman, Betty Blackburn, Doris Priest, members of Mike Kesler's Sunday School Class and Elders and Deacons of West 7th Street Church of Christ.
