View Video TributeMrs. Virginia Brown Taylor, 96, former longtime resident of Mooresville Pike, died Monday, December 2, 2013 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Wayne Hardison and John Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 3 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Northview Church of Christ, 865 Nashville Highway, Columbia, Tennessee 38401. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Charlie Murphy Brown and Katie Lee Duncan Brown. On November 11, 1949 she married George Edward Taylor who preceded her in death November 1, 1999. She had been employed by Genesco Shoe Factory in Lewisburg, Dixie Manufacturing in Columbia and assisted in the ownership and operation of Taylor Floor Covering on Riverside Drive. Mrs. Taylor was previously a member of Riverside Church of Christ and more recently Northview Church of Christ. Survivors include her sisters, Mary Depagter of Boston, Massachusetts, Betty Lovett of Columbia; nephews, Ron Brown, John Harris, Phil Harris; nieces, Teresa Wilson and Gayle Goad; and several great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryne McMeen and brother, James Murphy Brown. Active pallbearers will be Roy Wilson, Joe Delk, Randell Rummage, Jerry Church, Carl May, James Prince, Todd Prince and Mike Richardson. Honorary pallbearers include Leon Walters, Dory Adams and Elders and Deacons of Northview Church of Christ.
