Virginia Vernon

Mrs. Virginia "Jenny" Mae Grimm Scalf Vernon, 90, resident of Westover Drive, died Monday, December 1, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Rosella and Harry H. Grimm. She married Robert Alexander Vernon who preceded her in death in 1987. Mrs. Vernon had been employed as a cook at different times with Life Care Center, Bel-Air Nursing Home and Betty's Parkway. She attended the Church of Christ. Survivors include her sons, Steven Ray Vernon of Gatlinburg, Robert Kerry Vernon of Sevierville; daughter, Linda (Jeff) Carringer of Knoxville; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her companion of twenty-five years, Thomas "Rudy" James.
