Virginia Benderman Williams

December 7, 1921 — March 10, 2010

Mrs. Virginia Louise Benderman Williams, 88, homemaker and long-time resident of Old Williamsport Pike, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Life Care of Columbia. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jeff Jacob officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:00 noon to service time at Oakes & Nichols. Memorials may be made to Craft Memorial United Methodist Church, 907 Hatcher Lane, Columbia 38401. Born in Wauchula, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Otis Orel Benderman and Lela Ambie Walker Benderman and a 1940 graduate of Haylong High School. Mrs. Williams was a long-time member of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church. She was married in 1946 to George Claude Williams who preceded her in death in June, 1981. Survivors include daughters, Jeanie (Doug) Baker of Huntsville, Alabama and Susie (Milton) Milam of Nashville; son, Mark (Jackie) Williams of Columbia; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeff) Yeager of Huntsville, Alabama, Rachael (Bruce) Brown of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Taylor (Tara) Milam of Nashville, Rebekah (Tony) Andraino of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Mark Adam Williams, Jackson Williams, and Patrick Williams, all of Columbia; six great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Margaret Owen of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. The family expresses deep appreciation to the staffs of Life Care of Columbia and The Bridge for their care and concern during her illness.
