William Arlo "W. A." Thurman, 87, retired employee of Elias Construction, self-employed farmer and logger, and resident of Ella West Circle in Lynnville, died Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Milton Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. and Wednesday from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born August 12, 1926 in Giles County, he was the son of the late Thomas Arlo Thurman and Annie Velna Gibson Thurman. Mr. Thurman was a very devoted family man and enjoyed working to provide for them. He was a member of Lynnville Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years Audrey Davis Thurman of Lynnville; daughter, Nancy (Dwight) Ward of Cornersville; sons, Billy D. Thurman of Columbia; Randy A. (Kathy) Thurman of Lynnville; daughter-in-law, Sally Thurman of Columbia; brother, Mark (Annie Pearl) Thurman of Lynnville; brother-in-law, Thomas Fry; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son Larry Don Thurman, sister Doris Fry, and brother Jerry Thurman. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
