Mr. Walter Ray Wilson, 87, resident of Chippendale Circle, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Fayetteville Care & Rehabilitation Center. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Shires Cemetery in the Pottsville Community with Todd Loyd officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to Zion Christian Academy Library Fund, 6901 Old Zion Road, Columbia, TN 38401 or Tennessee Future Farmers of America Foundation, P.O. Box 5034, Tennessee Tech University, Cookeville, TN 38505-0001. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Overton County native was a self-employed carpenter and assisted in the building of Disney World while living in Winter Haven, Florida. On August 23, 1947 he married Martha Chunn Wilson who preceded him in death on March 2, 2011. He enjoyed farming, woodworking and fishing. Survivors include his daughters, Marsha (Shirley) Cole and Gina (Patrick) Campbell both of Spring Hill; grandchildren, Matthew Stephen White (Joy Marie) of Columbia, Michael Reid (Jessica) White of Johnson City, Laura Courtney Campbell (Dane) Purtle of Columbia, Susan Rainey Campbell of Spring Hill; great grandchildren, Peyton White, Caroline White, Cole White, Brayden White, Landon White, Jonah White, Campbell Purtle; and siblings, Gladys Johnston of Cookeville, Glennis Dee Walker and Hollis Wilson both of Livingston, and June Sandlin of Indianapolis, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Carvil Wilson, Andy Wilson and Harold Wilson. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
