Wanda Jones Barrett

Mrs. Wanda Marie Jones Barrett, 89, passed away on March 2, 2016, in Columbia, Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:30 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Bob Mullenix and Reverend Gary Wedgewood officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 10:00 A.M. to service time at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 689, Mt. A native of Princeton, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Bradley Jones and Estelle Colene Redd Jones. On October 13, 1945 she married Reverend Eugene Boyd Barrett and their 67 year marriage ended with his death December 26, 2012. Mrs. Barrett was a faithful and supportive minister's wife, as her husband served Methodist congregations in Mt. Pleasant, Columbia, Nashville, and Winchester over their ministry. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca (Clifford) King of Mt. Pleasant; sons, Brad (Diane) Barrett of Nashville and Bob (Andy Peterson) Barrett of Franklin; grandchildren, Kelly (Dale) Hughes of Mt. Pleasant, Colin (Rachel) Barrett of Nashville, Bradley Barrett, Jr. of Brentwood, Andrew (Julie) Barrett of Chattanooga; great grandchildren, Corey (Kendal) Hughes of Mt. Pleasant, William Boyd Barrett of Nashville, Kathryn Leigh Barrett of Chattanooga; great great grandchild, Peyton Rae Hughes of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Margaret Dunn of Princeton, Kentucky and Bobbie Mitchell of Calvert City, Kentucky. Active pallbearers will be Colin Barrett, Bradley Barrett, Jr., Andrew Barrett, Corey Hughes, John Lancaster, Roger Mitchell, Vern White, and Ricky Massey. Honorary pallbearers include members of Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Roxanne and Clyde Wheeler and Dr. John Simmons. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staffs of Morning Pointe of Columbia and NHC Columbia for the loving care they provided.
