Wanda Callis Hickman

February 10, 1949 — November 20, 2011

Mrs. Wanda Callis Hickman, 62, died Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Signature Health Care. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Lynnwood Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Cates officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Columbia native was the daughter of the late Thomas Callis and Evelyn Josephine Stone Campbell. Mrs. Hickman was disabled and sometimes worked at the Impact Center. She enjoyed drawing, reading the Bible and other religious books, and loved visitors. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. Survivors include two brothers Michael (Darlene) Brown and Floyd Brown both of Ethridge; two sisters-in-law Faye Marie Wren of Birmingham, Alabama and Frances Jett who was also a special caretaker; special friend, Anne Pomeroy of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Harding Hickman on January 26, 2005. Active pallbearers include Jimmy Dean, Darryl Jett, Larry Jett and Maurice Pomeroy. Special thanks to Dr. Gibran Naddy and the staff at Signature Health Care.
