Her early years were filled with cherished memories of playing with cousins and friends, where her sweet smile was always present.

A proud graduate of Columbia Central High School, Class of 1968, Wanda pursued her passion for science and learning with remarkable dedication. She studied Biology and Chemistry at Columbia State Community College in 1970, continued her education in Chemistry at the University of Tennessee in 1971, and ultimately earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology from Middle Tennessee State University in 1985. Wanda was a consummate student, driven by curiosity and a deep love for knowledge.
A proud and passionate fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers, Wanda could often be seen wearing "Tennessee Orange" in support of her favorite team, the Vols. Whether it was football season or not — she always cheered with pride.
Wanda had a deep love for animals of all kinds, and she found joy in the company of creatures great and small. Her heart belonged especially to her beloved dog, JoJo, who was her constant companion and source of comfort. JoJo brought Wanda endless happiness, and their bond was a testament to the gentle spirit and unconditional love that defined her life.
Her professional journey led her to Kroger, where she worked faithfully for many years until her retirement. Beyond her career, Wanda was a devoted daughter, sister, and friend. She lovingly cared for her mother in her final years and extended that same compassion to her dear friend Brenda Leach, offering comfort and companionship until Brenda’s passing.
As a devoted member of Port Royal Church of Christ in Spring Hill, TN, Wanda lived a life marked by kindness, gratitude, and faith. She loved her church community and cherished the fellowship she found there—rarely missing a single Sunday, as worship and connection were important to her.
She is survived by her dear aunt, Linda Sue Jones of Lewisburg, TN, along with many cousins and friends who will miss her deeply. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joan Marie Witherspoon.
Wanda’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with laughter, learning, and love. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
