View Funeral Webcast Warren Dale Helgren, 89, retired herdsman with the Middle Tennessee Experiment Station and resident of Station Loop, died Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born January 1, 1926 in Wayne County, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Aaron Helgren and Helen Levine Helgren. Mr. Helgren served in the U. S. Army and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Marie Buckman of Nashville; sons, Anthony "Tony" Dale Helgren of Henderson, Nevada; Scott J. (Shannon) Helgren of Spring Hill; Jeff Warren (Carol) Helgren of Columbia; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Darlene Helgren and Delores Helgren, both of Nebraska; several nieces and nephews; and special companion, his dog Mickey. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Meyer, Eugene Helgren, and Gordon Helgren. Active pallbearers will be Aaron Helgren, Johnny Glenn, Jimmy Campbell, Marty Clark, Frank Bellamy, James Gary, Rodney Patterson, and Gwynne Evans. Honorary pallbearers include Ryan Helgren, Dr. Joe High, Butch Meyer, Glen Nichols, Dave Swanson, Kevin Thompson, and past and present employees of Middle Tennessee Experiment Station.
