View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast Mr. Wesley Green Hawkins, 82, truck driver and resident of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Heritage Medical Center/Bedford County Hospital in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Bobby Cates officiating. Burial will follow in Hardison Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday after 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Mr. Hawkins was born October 6, 1932 in DeKalb County, Alabama the son of the late Freddy W. Hawkins and Lizzie Ann Tinker Hawkins. He served in the U.S. Army. Working was his life and he was still driving a truck for Titan Transport Service until a few months before his death. He enjoyed quail hunting and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Bessie Lee Randolph Hawkins of Shelbyville; sons, Shaa (Kelly) Hawkins and Les Hawkins both of Shelbyville; daughters, Sharon (Coy) Williams and Sheila Kessler both of Trenton, Georgia, Debra (Neal) Bowersox of Scottsboro, Alabama, Anita Harden of Murfreesboro, Tanya Payne of Marlboro, Massachusetts, Alicia Hawkins of Madison, Holly Bass of Shelbyville; step-children, Glenn Tosh and Shannon Tapp; brothers, Doyle (Mary) Hawkins, Bennie (Bobbie) Hawkins, Jerry (Ann) Hawkins; sisters, Betty Hancock, Ruth Loman; twenty-three grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David Hawkins and several brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Jeff Faulk, James Bush, Chris Randolph, Eddie Randolph, Rudy Cates and Jamie Mueller.
