Mr. William Lester "Cotton" Beasley, Jr., 86, resident of Lynnville, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at his residence while doing what he loved to do, working in the garden. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Leon Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery. The Giles County native was the son of the late William Lester Beasley, Sr. and Pinkey "Pouchie" Hickman Beasley and attended Fry Branch School in Giles County. On January 12, 1945 he married Raydean Cross Beasley who preceded him in death July 27, 2002. Mr. Beasley was employed at E.I. DuPont Corporation/Spontex for over thirty years and retired as operating supervisor. He was known as The Tomato Man as he raised tomatoes and sold them on the Pulaski Highway for many years. Mr. Beasley was a member of the Lynnville Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, Larry (Susan) Beasley of Lynnville; grandson, Daniel (Leanne) Beasley of Lawrenceburg; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Beasley and Jett Beasley both of Lawrenceburg. He was preceded in death by brothers, John Beasley and Titus Beasley. Active pallbearers will be Jett Beasley, Donnie Hanna, Floyd Horne, Matthew Sayers, Bryant Sands, Bill Underwood, Larry Sands, Pat Sulcer and Larry Dickey.
