View Funeral Webcast William Raymond "Bill" Brown, 92, resident of Hampshire, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Joe Macer officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 5 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was born February 25, 1920, the son of the late Herbert O. Brown and Josephine Patton Brown. He was a member of the Hampshire High School Class of 1937 and attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Mr. Brown was employed by Victor Chemical Company from 1938 to 1954 and then Columbia Gulf Transmission until March 1985 when he retired. He was a long-time member of South Point Church of Christ where he served as an elder. Survivors include sons, William R. (Jean) Brown of Knoxville, Walker (Judy) Brown of Hickory, North Carolina, Bobby W. (Joy) Brown of Brentwood; daughters, Nancy (Dr. John) Richardson of Los Angeles, California, Mary Ann (Richard) Peugeot of Nashville; brother, Richard (Ruth) Brown of Columbia; sister, Gladys Renfro of Hampshire; grandchildren, Dr. William R. Brown, III, Lee Anne Ryan, Stacy Taylor, Adam Brown, Matthew Brown, Sara Anne Brown; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Sara B. Cummins Brown in August 1990 and his second wife, Martha Hunter Patterson in March 2004. Active pallbearers will be Dr. Ray Brown, Adam Brown, Matthew Brown, Everette Renfro, Ricky Brown, Virgil Bell, Randy Baxter and Dustin Carroll. Honorary pallbearers include Joe Macer and family, Max James, Marylyn Quimby, Becky Sharp and the staff of Woodcrest and Burton Court in Nashville.
