View Funeral Webcast William David Pilkinton, 56, member of the Columbia Academy faculty for 30 years and resident of Stonewall Road, died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Highland Church of Christ with David Morris officiating. The family will visit with friends from 3:00 p.m. to service time at the church. Private family interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Earl Thomas Pilkinton and Ida Mae Dugger Pilkinton. He was a 1972 graduate of Columbia Central High School and earned a B.S. Degree from David Lipscomb University. During his 30-year teaching career at Columbia Academy, he taught History, Government, and Bible Classes. At present he was coach of the Shooting Team and formerly coached the Junior High Boys' Basketball Team, Golf Team and Tennis Team. He was a long-time member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, April Willis Pilkinton, whom he married September 12, 1981; daughters, Rachel Marie Pilkinton and Mary Grace (Tim) Edwards, both of Columbia; sisters, Mary Pilkinton of Columbia, Martha Esslinger of Shelbyville, and Rachel (David) Ammons of Knoxville; brothers, Tommy (Coleen) Pilkinton and Jim (Bennie) Pilkinton, both of Culleoka; several nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers include Bob Lloyd, Randall Smith, Larry Jones, past and present members of the Maury County Gun Club; past and present members of the faculty and staff of Columbia Academy; and Elders and Deacons of Highland Church of Christ.
