William Todd Porter, Jr., 73, native of the Williamsport Community, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 in Nashville where he made his home for many years. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home in Nashville. Graveside services will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Williamsport Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Wright officiating. "Billy" Porter, Sr. and Mary Bright Puryear Porter.He was a 1955 graduate of Columbia Central High School and earned a degree in accounting from Middle Tennessee State University in 1959. He spent his entire career as an accountant in the Sales Tax Division of the State of Tennessee, retiring in 1992.Todd was a well-known musician and song-writer and played the piano in numerous venues around Nashville. Known for his kindness and wonderful sense of humor, he especially cherished his many friendships. Todd was much loved and will be truly missed by all who knew him.Survivors include Martha S. Underwood of Nashville; brothers, Joe Frank (Ellen) Porter, III and Russell Bright Porter; two nieces, two nephews, two great-nieces and a great-nephew.
