William Fred "Bill" Shouse

William Fred “Bill” Shouse, 75, of Columbia, and retired Operating Engineer for Cytec, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026, at NHC Murfreesboro.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Andrew Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Bill was born November 13, 1950, in Trenton, Michigan, and was the son of the late James Fred Shouse and the late Mary Ruth Daniels Shouse. He was a retired Operating Engineer with Cytec and was a longtime member of Graymere Church of Christ.

Bill married the love of his life, Theresa Harris, on January 27, 1990. They shared many wonderful years together before her passing on January 15, 2020. Bill and Theresa were devoted members of Graymere Church of Christ. Family was especially important to Bill, and he cherished the time spent together with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Nikki (Brian) Hay of Columbia, and Shea (Marc) Payne of Lascassas; sons, Eric (Jenny) Shouse of Dallas, GA, and Matt (Ashley) Shouse of Lafayette; grandchildren, Shelby (Darius) Turrentine, Sydney Hay, Aiden Payne, Bennett Payne, Jonah Shouse, Carter Shouse, Phoenix Shouse, and Maddie Shouse; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Crowley, Simon Turrentine, and Holland Turrentine; brother, Greg (Janie) Shouse; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Theresa Harris Shouse, and parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Shouse.

Pallbearers will be Darius Turrentine, Aiden Payne, Bennett Payne, Jonah Shouse, Carter Shouse, and Phoenix Shouse.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at NHC Murfreesboro for the compassionate care, kindness, and love they showed Bill during his time there.

Bill will be remembered by his family and friends for his devotion to his family, and his love of the Tennessee Titans, video poker, reading, all you can eat Chinese buffets, traveling and M&M’s.
