William E. "Moto" Thurman, 62, retired employee of Advantage Sales and resident of John Sharp Road, died Friday, March 11, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 3:00 P.M. at First Family Church with Pastor Rick Blevins, Johnny Cook, and Ross Cook officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. The Maury County native was the son of the late James Luther Thurman, Sr. and the late George Ann Stanfill Thurman. He was former owner and operator of Wall's Grocery in Spring Hill for fifteen plus years. Mr. Thurman was a member of First Family Church. Survivors include his wife whom he married January 16, 1976, Jean Morton Thurman of Columbia; daughters, Bridgett (David) Hudgins and Emily (Girard) Graham, both of Columbia; grandchildren, Callie Johnson, Chloe Johnson, Halie Hudgins, Ashton Hudgins, Lena Graham; sister, Pam (Mike) Dawson of Columbia; brothers, James "Jim" (Sherry) Thurman, Jr. of Trenton, Michigan; Larry (Gail) Thurman of Columbia; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mack Palmer, Don Boshears, Cody Ingram, Ray & Linda Kuykendall, Billy & Joan Johns, Jerry & Kathy Graves, John & Julie Gilbreath, Gary & Leatha Beaty, Terry & Sue Hodge, Kevin Foster, Larry Derryberry, and Ralph Griggs. The family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors and staff of Maury Regional Medical Center ICU and Jean's co-workers in the Surgery Department.
