View Funeral WebcastMrs. Willie Mae Emler Luttrell Hughes, 87, retired nurse and resident of Old Williamsport Pike, died Monday, February 11, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 12 - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Harvey Emler and May Gibson Emler. She was first married to John Luttrell who preceded her in death in 1974. On May 18, 1984 she married Rev. Argine Hughes of Columbia who survives. She had been employed as a nurse for Dr. Clay Miller and as a nurse/secretary at Bel-Aire Healthcare. Mrs. Hughes was always actively involved in helping people in any way she could. She loved music and was pianist for Lawrence Grove Baptist Church for twenty years until she retired from the position in 2004. She was a member of New Song Baptist Church. In addition to her husband Mrs. Hughes is survived by her son, Terry (Kathy) Luttrell of Huntsville, Alabama; sister, Hortense Susan Mayberry of Columbia; step-daughter, Patricia "Patsy" Jean Hughes (Bobby) McCain of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; grandchildren, Daniel Luttrell, Anna Luttrell, Holly Luttrell, Torri Luttrell; step-grandchildren, Jamie Boswell, Jonathan Boswell; two step-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Minnie Ree Emler Fisher; brother-in-law, Ernest Lee Hughes; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Prentice Cooper Emler. Pallbearers include Daniel Luttrell, Bro. Leonard Stevens, Tommy Mayberry, Pete Fisackerly, Jimmy Rowland and David Walls.
