View Funeral WebcastWilma Lee Young Dodson, 92, retired co-owner of Wilma's Fashions and resident of Oakwood Drive, died Friday, January 1, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Carl May officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 1:00 - 2:30 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Columbia Academy, 1101 West Seventh Street, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Hickman County native was the daughter of the late Mack Lee Young and Susan Primm Young. On November 30, 1950, she and Wilkes Dodson, Jr. were married and in November, they celebrated their sixty-fifth anniversary. They owned and operated Wilma's Fashions for twenty-five years, opening the original Wilma's Fashions in Murfreesboro, later moving the business to Eagleville and then Columbia. Mrs. Dodson enjoyed knitting and reading; however, one of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very consistent in daily journaling. She was a forty-year member of Berea Church of Christ. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Beverly Dodson (Clay) Harris of Columbia; son, Richard "Ricky" Dodson of Columbia; grandchildren, Shane (Crystal) Keith, Amy (Chad) Rich, Joshua Dodson, Jennifer Dodson; great grandchildren, Devin (Shelby) Keith, Megan Rich, Chandler Rich, Seth Keith, Kobe Dodson; great great grandson, Beau Avery Keith; sister, Shirley (Bob) Craig of California; sisters-in-law, Lenora Hunter and Anne Gibson, both of Columbia; Elaine Amlin of California; brother-in-law, Dwight Dodson of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl Young, Stan Young, Bobby Young, Murray Young, and Billy Dean Young; and one sister, Frances Noble. Active pallbearers will be Shane Keith, Joshua Dodson, Devin Keith, Chandler Rich, Seth Keith, and Kobe Dodson. Honorary pallbearers will include the men of Berea Church of Christ.
