Wilma Johns Harris

Mrs. Wilma Johns Harris, 84, resident of West Avenue, died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Pastor David Simmerman and Pastor Steve Livengood officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Ellison Johns and Willie Mae Lynn Johns. She was a homemaker and sitter for the elderly for several years and was a former grocery clerk for W.C.Wiley Grocery. Mrs. Harris was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include four sisters, Betty Jo (James) Gilliam of Columbia, Lorene Durham of Antioch, Irene Adams of Culleoka, Kathleen (William) Gemmell of Columbia; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Enoch and Phyllis George, JoAnn Brewer and Jackie Primm. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland William Harris in 2009, a son, Jimmy Leland Harris who died in 2008, and two sisters, Frances Marie Johns Douglass in 1993 and Martha Ann Johns in 2003. Pallbearers will be Wayne Grissom, Don McKee, Jimmy Tennyson, J.B. West, Bryan George, Cody George, Robert George and John Douglas.
