View Video TributeView Funeral Service WebcastMr. Walter Merrill "Hutch" Hutcherson, 89, retired J.W. Wireman with TVA died Thursday, December 15, 2011 at his residence on Roy Sellers Road. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jeff Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Lasting Hope Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. immediately following visitation at Oakes & Nichols. The family suggests memorials to Beech Grove Church of Christ Building Fund, P.O. The Maury County native was the son of the late Walter G. Hutcherson and Nevada Choate Hutcherson. He was a 1942 graduate of Spring Hill High School. In 1943 he joined the United States Army and served his country during World War II. On March 16, 1946 he married Edna Elaine Martin Hutcherson who survives him. Mr. Hutcherson was a member of the Shriners, Past Master of Columbia Masonic Lodge 31, a member of the York Right, Scottish Right, Eastern Star Past Worthy Patron, Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) Local 429, Nashville. As a child and teen he attended Beech Grove Church of Christ. In addition to his wife Mr. Hutcherson is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Terry) Evetts of Columbia; sons, Gary (Cara) Hutcherson of Chattanooga, Terry (Mona) Hutcherson of Gallatin, David (Julie) Hutcherson of Columbia; grandchildren, Randal Evetts, Bobby Evetts, Marty (Joy) Hutcherson, Carrie (Anthony "Bubba") Stewart, Cody Hutcherson, Ryan Hutcherson all of Columbia, Brian (Barbara) Hutcherson of Portland, Rachel (Jackie) McCrary of Madison; 17 Great Grandchildren; special nieces, Sheila (Eddie) Hickman, Deborah (Jeff) Thompson both of Columbia; sisters, Margaret Hutcherson of Columbia, Helen Alvis of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, R.C. (Johnnie) Hutcherson of Columbia; and several other special nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ellie Hutcherson, Avie Hendrix, Grace Eckel, and four brothers, Orville Hutcherson, Hardy Hutcherson, Robert Hutcherson, and Clifford Hutcherson.Active pallbearers will be Randal Evetts, Bobby Evetts, Marty Hutcherson, Brian Hutcherson, Cody Hutcherson, Ryan Hutcherson, Virgil Beck and James Beck. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Columbia Masonic Lodge #31; I.B.E.W. Local 429; Caris Hospice, Dr. Nathan Lafferty, Staff of Life Care, Edwin Hutcherson, Lamar Hutcherson, Zane Hutcherson, Ray Hutcherson, James Hutcherson, and Jerry Alvis.
