Annie Louise Davis Ragan

Annie Louise Davis Ragan, 86, certified caregiver and long-time resident of Clark Road in Lewisburg, died Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Doctor Walter Clot and Pastor Matt Travers officiating. Burial will follow in Moses Cemetery in Marshall County. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born December 31, 1933 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late James Gordon Davis and the late Lela Reese Davis. Earlier in life, Mrs. Ragan worked in retail sales, was a hairdresser, and sold Avon. She was well-known for making preserves and pickles, canning, and cooking. Mrs. Ragan was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed embroidering and ceramics at The Bloome Center. She had a love for going to casinos, playing slot machines in Louisiana, as well as fishing in Tennessee and Louisiana. Mrs. Ragan was a member of Northside Baptist Church and the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Ragan of Columbia and Belle Rose, Louisiana; children, James “Pete” Ragan of Westwego, Louisiana; Ruby Maynell Ragan (John) Falterman of Paincourtville, Louisiana; Roger (Kathi) Ragan of Belle Rose, Louisiana; Michael Ragan of St. Amant, Louisiana; Marcella (Mark) Palazzo of Plaquemine, Louisiana; sister, Doris Alderson of Williamsport; brother, James “Sonny” (Juanita) Davis of Columbia. She was fondly referred to as “MawMaw” by her grandchildren, Shane Ragan, Candice (Adam) Abadie, Taylor (Zee) Ragan, Chance Ragan, Brant Palazzo (Josh Allred), Blane (Holli) Palazzo, Imogene (Allan) Christian; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three infant children, step-mother, Elsie Davis; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Ragan; sister, Martha Davis Counts; and brothers-in-law, Bill Alderson and Thomas Counts.   Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers include Ladye Seller, Hallie Ponville Lambert, Shelby and Spencer Carpenter, Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class at Northside Baptist Church, and members Water Valley FCE Club. The family would like to express a special thanks to her special niece, Carol Connell and the employees of Life Care Center of Columbia, Avalon Hospice, and Dr. Charles Ball.
