View Video TributesView Funeral Webcast Jesse Lee Potter, Jr., 58, resident of Cecil Farm Road in Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Dr. Karen Davis officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Lauderdale County Memorial Gardens in Ripley, Tennessee with Brother Billy Elder officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1864, Columbia, TN 38402 or Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 533, Columbia, TN 38402. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lauderdale County native was the son of Jessie Lee Potter, Sr. and Nellie Holt Potter of Ripley. He served in the United States Navy. Mr. Potter was employed by the National Parks Service and previously was a journeyman pipefitter for General Motors. He had also been a certified welder and computer technician. Survivors include his wife of thirty-seven years, Susan Iverson Potter of Mt. Pleasant; sons, Jesse L. Potter, III of Mt. Pleasant, Justin (Holly Brooks) Potter of Columbia; brother, Samuel (Carolyn) Turney of Ripley; and grandchildren, Nicholas James Potter, Zachary Isaac Potter, Brooke Elizabeth Potter, Braden Davis Potter all of Columbia, Tristan Allen Mosley of Mt. Pleasant, Greffen Charles Potter of Williamsport and Katelyn Nellie Potter of Centerville. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles to whom he was close. Active pallbearers will be Timothy Morales, Iver O. Iverson, III, John Shearin, Dave Grubbs, Mike Fautt, Denny Davidson, Milton Dale, Roger Lambert, Larry Graham and Tommy McMeen. Honorary pallbearers include friends of the Country Store in Hampshire and Natchez Trace Parkway co-workers.
