Kenneth Edward “Kenny” Walters, 73, retired employee of Superior Essex in Franklin, died Saturday, July 14, 2018, at his residence on Herman Church Road in the Santa Fe Community.Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Dorning and Jerry Lee Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to Santa Fe Cemetery Fund, c/o Mark Priest, 3782 Raleigh Beard Road, Santa Fe, TN 38482. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Born June 28, 1945 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Roy Allen Walters and the late Ruth Cecile Chaney Walters. On June 9,1965, he married Elaine Johnson Walters and they celebrated fifty-three years of marriage this year. He was a 1963 graduate of Santa Fe High School and attended MTSU for one year. Mr. Walters was a longtime maintenance employee at Monsanto and retired as a supervisor after twenty-years employment with Superior Essex in Franklin. He enjoyed classic country music and loved to sing and play the guitar. He also enjoyed sketching and drawing and was a sports enthusiast, especially golfing and fishing. He always kept up with politics and watched Fox News. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Phil (Tracey) Walters of Primm Springs; daughter, Carole Walters Waldrum of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Dylan Walters of Santa Fe, Jonathan Walters and Sam Walters, both of Primm Springs; sister, Barbara Woody of Columbia; brother, Ray (Donna) Walters of Columbia; sister-in-law, Geneva Walters of Columbia; brother-in-law, Perry (Teresa) Johnson of Santa Fe; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Walters; brothers-in-law, George Woody, Steve Johnson, Mark Johnson, Lewis Johnson; and sister-in-law, Ann Johnson England.Active pallbearers will be Gary Woody, Don Woody, Perry Johnson, Keith Patterson, Jerry Baker, and Jeffrey Ahlheit. Honorary pallbearers will include retired employees of Monsanto and friends at Essex.
